There are three available flavours options, all scented using natural essential plant oils, steam-distilled from the leaves and peel of plants and fruit. There is: Refreshing Lime & Virgin Coconut, Cool Peppermint & Virgin Coconut, and Geranium Bourbon & Virgin Coconut.

Use daily and apply to either wet or dry beards. This is a very concentrated buttery balm: You won't need to use much and a little will go a long way. Just scoop out a finger-tip of butter and wipe that into a palm. Rub your palms together, and use both hands to distribute the melted oils into your beard. Ensure you have full coverage, and spend at least two minutes massaging the oil right into the roots of your beard, so that the skin also receives nourishment. Start with a small scoop and add more as necessary for longer beards. Finish grooming with a good quality wooden beard comb to ensure that the butter is distributed evenly.

The longer you can leave your Beard Butter Conditioner in, the better (around 8 hours is recommended). There's no need to wash or rinse this product in, as it will wholly absorb over time. The ingredients are perfectly natural and will continue doing their softening and moisturising work. Use as often as you wish every day, and whenever your beard needs a boost.

As this oil is so thick and concentrated, you may find it more suitable as a leave-in overnight treatment. The balm is so soft, it's very susceptible to heat and melting (even your body heat will melt the butter). For this reason, please store in a cool place, as the balm can melt easily in hot bathrooms. If your Beard Butter melts, don't worry; you can re-set it by placing it in the fridge for a couple of hours. You can do this as often as you like, and it will not diminish the quality or efficacy of your product.

As your beard grows, the hair needs moisture and nutrients to thrive, which it takes from the skin on your face. This exhausts the finite amount of oils and moisture that your skin holds, as it now shares its stores with your beard, which can lead to both dry skin and brittle hair. The conditioner is a very soft balm which melts almost immediately on contact with your body heat. Because the conditioner has a low molecular weight, it can penetrate the pores of your skin and the roots and follicles of your beard hair, so that it conditions properly from a deep level.

If you were to view your individual beard hairs through a microscope, you'd discover that the outer shafts of the hair are covered in scales. When your hair is dry and brittle, these scales stand up and away from the hair shaft, creating a rough and untidy look. The melted plant butters in Joe's conditioner lay these scales flat, and allow your hair to look neater and more shiny. Additionally, the insides of your hair are actually hollow (this space is called the Medulla, and contains hollows and fragments). Once melted, the Coconut Oil in Gnarly Joe® Beard Butter Conditioner seeps through these hollows, conditioning your hair from the inside out.
