Geranium Bourbon and Black Pepper: These two 100% natural plant oils complement each other beautifully and are a perennial favourite of Joe. On paper, they shouldn't work as well as they do! The Geranium Bourbon has a sophisticated, light, green, sweet, herbaceous and rose-like scent, and the Black Pepper provides a dark hint of musk, warm wood, and exotic spice. 

Geranium Bourbon comes from the island of La Réunion in the Indian Ocean (a former french colony). The island was formerly known as Île de Bourbon, which is where the name comes from. The plant oil is steam-distilled from the flowers, leaves and stalks of the flower.

Black Pepper: Just before the young berries turn into peppercorns (nearly ripe), they are crushed and the essential oil is extracted by steam-distillation.

Peppermint & Highland Pine: The Peppermint Joe uses, has been steam-distilled from the flowering tops and leaves of the Peppermint plant. Due to the high menthone content in this shrub, you'll get an invigorating blast and a cooling effect on your skin and beard. This refreshing scent is ideal for your morning routine, as well as using regularly throughout the day. 

The Peppermint makes a perfect companion to Pine; the second botanical, which has been dry-distilled from Scottish Pine Needles. This provides a sweet top note, with woody, balsamic undertones, evoking a wonderful smell of the forests.

Bergamot & Benzoin: The Bergamot tree is native to Southern Italy, and produces small, citrus/lime-type fruits, that deliver a sweet, lemony, refreshing top note, with warm, floral and balsamic undertones. Joe uses Bergamot essential oil which has been expressed directly from the nearly-ripe fruits. Not only is Bergamot excellent for treating spots and pimples, but its refreshing and zesty scent has therapeutic benefits, that are known to relieve stress and anxiety.

Benzoin is extracted from a tropical tree with pale green leaves and hard-shelled fruits. Incisions are made in the bark which release Benzoin resin. This provides a luxurious and subtle counterpart to the Bergamot, as benzoin has qualities not unlike vanilla and white chocolate.

Use daily and apply after washing beard (Beard Softener can be applied to wet or dry beards). Dry beard thoroughly (preferably by patting gently dry with a towel, rather than using a hair drier, which can cause beard hair to become brittle).  

Remember; this is a very concentrated and thick cream: You won't need to use much and a little will go a long way. Just scoop out a finger-tip of cream and wipe that into a palm. Then rub your palms together, and use both hands to distribute tA he thinned cream into your beard. Ensure you have full coverage, and spend at least two minutes massaging the cream right into the roots of your beard, so that the skin also receives nourishment. Start with a small scoop and add more as necessary for longer beards. Finish grooming with a good quality wooden beard comb to ensure that the balm is distributed evenly.

You can then leave your Beard Softener in, the longer the better. If you use it overnight, there's no need to wash or rinse out in the morning. The ingredients are perfectly natural and will continue doing their softening and moisturising work.

You can use your Beard Softener throughout the day, as often as you like, as it contains gentle, hydrating, natural ingredients. As it's extra-thick and triple-whipped, you may find it more suitable as a leave-in overnight treatment, because especially on darker beards, it may leave some white residue for a few minutes, until it absorbs fully.
