The signature scent for both products is Peppermint, which leaves you beard and face feeling invigorated and refreshed. The Peppermint that Joe uses, has been steam-distilled from the flowering tops and leaves of the Peppermint plant. Due to the high menthone content in this shrub, you'll get an invigorating blast and a cooling effect on your skin and beard. This refreshing scent is ideal for your morning routine, as well as using regularly throughout the day.

Stage 1 Beard Exfoliant: First drench your beard and face with water (using cold water will boost the refreshing and cooling feeling of the peppermint, but warm or tepid water is fine). Using a finger, scoop a small amount of the exfoliant gel into your palm, and then distribute this evenly around your beard & face (avoiding the immediate eye area). This gel is potent and you won’t need to use much; a little goes a long way. Use this exfoliant once or twice a week, and ideally, immediately after washing and shampooing your beard.

Spend around 1-2 minutes massaging the gel gently into your skin and the roots of your beard hair, using smooth circular motions with your fingertips. Now thoroughly rinse the exfoliant gel out, removing all traces of the finely powdered coconut shell granules. This Scrub is designed to use on your entire face – not just your beard.

STAGE 2 Beard Softener: This is a very concentrated and thick cream: You won't need to use much and a little will go a long way. Just scoop out a finger-tip of cream and wipe that into a palm. Then rub your palms together, and use both hands to distribute the thinned cream into your beard. Ensure you have full coverage, and spend at least two minutes massaging the cream right into the roots of your beard, so that the skin also receives nourishment. Start with a small scoop and add more as necessary for longer beards. Finish grooming with a good quality wooden beard comb to ensure that the balm is distributed evenly.

You can then leave your Beard Softener in, the longer the better. If you use it overnight, there's no need to wash or rinse out in the morning. The ingredients are perfectly natural and will continue doing their softening and moisturising work.

You can use your Beard Softener throughout the day, as often as you like, as it contains gentle, hydrating, natural ingredients. As it's extra-thick and triple-whipped, you may find it more suitable as a leave-in overnight treatment, because especially on darker beards, it may leave some white residue for a few minutes, until it absorbs fully.
