This 2-in-1 Night Time Recovery Exfoliating and Cleansing Face Scrub, is scented with Ylang-Ylang and Lavender plant oils, which are known to induce a sense of calm and relaxation, thus helping you to sleep better.

Ylang-Ylang Oil to aid wellbeing: This subtly-scented exotic flower oil carries a myriad of health benefits. Ylang-Ylang oil is extracted via steam-distillation from the yellow orchid-like flowers of the Cananga Odorata tree (found in the rainforests of Asian & Southern Pacific Islands). Ylang-Ylang has been used to reduce the psychological effects of depression, anxiety and stress, whilst inducing a sense of calm. It has also been used to alleviate the skin condition of seborrheic eczema.

Lavender to assist sleep: The Lavender Essential Oil Joe uses, is sourced from Bulgaria (due to the perfect growing climate and soil conditions), and is extracted from the flowering tops of the plant. Lavender has unique therapeutic qualities which can help induce sleep and relaxation, and balance emotions. Research suggests that Lavender may be useful in treating anxiety, insomnia, depression and restlessness.

Use at night before going to bed, to cleanse dirt and grease which has accumulated in your pores throughout the day. Joe recommends using this wash twice a week. However, it's mild enough to use more often, and every day if you wish. Even though this is a mild and gentle formula, it's powerful and highly-concentrated: You won't need to use much, and a little will go a long way (which means that this 100ml bottle will last a long time).

First, shake the bottle vigorously, to ensure that the powdered Jojoba grains haven't settled. Wet your face with tepid water. Pour just a small (five to ten pence-piece-sized), dollop into your palm. Rub your palms together and then distribute the exfoliating wash around your face evenly, to form a rich lather. Now use your fingertips to work the exfoliating wash (and Jojoba grains), into your skin. Massage your face gently for two minutes. This will allow the finely-powdered grains to gently peel away old, dead skin, revealing fresh new skin underneath.

Take care around your eyes to ensure that grains do not enter. If grains get into your eyes, wash out immediately. Finally, rinse the wash off throughly with warm water, making sure that all traces of grains have been removed. Gently pat your face dry with a clean towel.

For best results, apply a few drops of Gnarly Joe® Night Time Recovery Anti-Ageing Moisturiser Serum, to introduce hydrating and nourishing plant oils into your skin overnight, whilst you sleep. This serum has been specifically designed to complement the Exfoliating Face Scrub perfectly (and is also scented with Ylang-Ylang and Lavender).

Some facial exfoliants contain pumice grains, or crushed seeds, which have small, sharp edges. These can damage your face and leave microscopic tears on your skin, especially in sensitive areas around the eyes, where your skin is thinnest and more prone to wrinkling. Other exfoliating products contain micro-beads, which are essentially small particles of hard, rounded plastic. These get washed into our oceans after use, and are harmful to marine life. That's why Joe only uses Jojoba grains to exfoliate skin gently, and naturally.

Using powdered and hydrogenated Jojoba grains means that Gnarly Joe® Exfoliating Face Wash & Scrub is biodegradable, better for our environment, and it provides a much kinder exfoliating action; gently lifting dead skin cells as you wash, without causing damage to your skin.

Once the old skin is lifted, you can maximise the effect of the new skin, by nourishing it immediately with your favourite face cream or serum.
