Gnarly Joe: Award-Winning Skin & Hair Care

We're exceptionally proud to have been recognised by Lux Life Magazine, who gave us two awards: the Men's Health & Wellness Innovation Award, and Best Natural Men's Skin & Hair Care Company.

It was primarily the years of research and development work that we've put into developing skin care using plant extracts and botanicals, that first caught the attention of Lux Life Magazine. Gnarly Joe® uses natural ingredients in our skin and hair care, because research demonstrated that up to 60% of topicals (things that we spread on our skin), get absorbed into our bloodstream.

It's clear that, especially over the medium to long term, there are detrimental side-effects of using chemical-based skin and hair care products on a daily basis. So from the start, we developed an obsessive devotion to using the highest possible concentrations of natural ingredients in all of our products (with many them containing zero chemicals, and just 100% natural ingredients, such as our Hair Care range, Night Serum and Lip Balm). 

But Lux LIfe became even more impressed, the further into the judging they got. There are lots of things they liked, but as an example, there's the work we put into our Marine Gel Eye Serum. We discovered an amazing and potent Marine Algae that's at the centre of that formulation. 

Not only did we love the ingredients, but we really loved the supplier too. They grow the micro-algae in an co facility, so that the delicate eco-balance of the oceans is not disrupted by uncontrolled harvesting (this also means there's no pollution of our seas).

Not only that, but by using a strictly controlled environment to cultivate the algae; the purity, integrity and quality of the algae is consistently high and guaranteed.

But there’s more.

During growth, algae gives off gases, and even these are repurposed to heat the eco facility. Nothing is wasted. We thought that was a really elegant solution. Finally, solar panels are used to power the facility to further ensure an ultra-low carbon footprint.
